Howarth Timber sees increase in energy rated windows 8 November 2011 Back to news index

Leading warm edge supplier SWISSPACER has helped Howarth Timber increase sales of A rated windows to its customers.

Howarth Timber is the UK’s largest privately owned timber company. It manufactures and installs timber windows, doors, conservatories and other bespoke products. Howarth uses Solaglas’ Ecoclear unit with SWISSPACER V spacer bars for its A rated windows, and sales of these windows have increased sharply over the past two years. In 2010, Howarth used SWISSPACER in 20% of its windows, and today this figure stands at 50% and growing fast.  Once limited to the self-build and eco-market, demand for high performance windows is now more mainstream as consumers become more energy conscious.

Mick Toner, Factory Manager at Howarth Timber comments: “We have used Solaglas in our windows for many years so it was a natural progression to add SWISSPACER V to the unit.  Our customers want energy efficient windows and SWISSPACER has helped us to achieve this. SWISSPACER offers excellent performance at a good price and our customers have been very happy with the results.”

Howarth Timber expects the trend for energy rated windows to continue. Mick Toner adds: “We predict that the industry will move towards triple glazing in the future, and we are in an excellent position to capitalise on this market. We are currently developing a new window range that will allow for a double or triple glazed window in the same frame.

“SWISSPACER will also help us with this market. It is one of the few warm edge spacer bars strong enough to cope with the extra load of another pane of glass.”
