SWISSPACER meets the Passive House standard
Climate change, scarce resources, new legislation and higher energy costs are raising the importance of Passive Houses around the world. The independent Passive House Institute (PHI) in Darmstadt was and remains an important pioneer in this field and has spent more than 30 years providing information on how energy-efficient and responsible construction functions.
Through the certification of passive houses, the PHI ensures that the high quality requirements of the Passive House standard are met. In order for planners to easily meet these standards, the institute also certifies individual products and detailed solutions. The spacer bars from SWISSPACER have displayed the renowned seal since 2015.
It is impossible to separate SWISSPACER from the planning of passive houses. In addition to product certifications, the Passive House Institute has also carried out studies that prove the performance and value added of the warm edge spacer bars.

SWISSPACER warm edge spacer bars have low thermal conductivity and make a big contribution to improving the U values of windows and façades. They increase the energy efficiency of the entire building considerably.

Component database
Attaining the Passive House standard requires careful planning, but above all particularly energy-efficient components. As a general rule, these are about 2 to 4 times as efficient as standard products. The Passive House database contains all certified components.
Certified passive house components support architects and engineers during the planning phase in deploying the right solutions for achieving the Passive House standard.
All certified warm edge spacer bars can be found in the section “Transparent building envelope” in the category “Glass edges”.

What is the Uw value?
The heat transfer coefficient of a window (Uw) expresses the loss of heat through a building element to the outside air.

Are you already familiar with CALUWIN?
With our calculation tool called CALUWIN, you can quickly calculate and compare not only Uw values, but also the precipitation of condensation and energy savings. The application is very easy to use and a particularly helpful tool for window makers, architects and planners as well as energy advisers.
You can select the products of different profile and insulating glass unit manufacturers from the built-in catalogue or enter the data manually – CALUWIN then quickly and reliably calculates the energy performance of the planned window design. CALUWIN determines the values in accordance with standard EN ISO 10077-1.
CALUWIN
In addition to the online application, you’ll also find CALUWIN in the app stores for iOS and Android devices.
