Fürstenburg boarding house, South Tyrol, Italy
Presented with the CasaClima Award 2017, the boarding house is described as an architectural jewel – and justifiably so. The architect created a true masterpiece of design in just 13 months. 180 new windows adorn the white, futuristic, four-storey building, which accommodates 100 students. The narrow, dark aluminium outer frames of the FIN-72 windows and FIN-Project windows create a striking contrast with the bright façade. The glass-covered Nova-line products used in the building give it a modern, all-glass appearance. Thanks to their modular structure, the FIN-Vista window walls allowed doors to be integrated effortlessly into the boarding house. Despite the abundance of glass surfaces, the plastic core gives the building outstanding thermal insulation.
