Press release: Transparent elegance at the “Kaiserjuwel”

At the “Kaiserjuwel” all-suite hotel in Going, Tyrol, alpine architecture, expansive glass surfaces and high energy-performance standards come together. The new building expands the Seiwald resort ensemble with 22 suites, two penthouse suites and a sky wellness area featuring an infinity sky pool.

The South Tyrolean company Vitralux was responsible for the exterior glazing. With frameless glazing, slim profiles and barrier-free transitions, the VITRALIGHT system creates seamless connections between the interior and the surrounding mountain landscape – both in the suites and in the spa area.

Performance down to the last detail

The project also excels in terms of energy performance: triple safety insulating glass with a Ug-value of 0.6 W/m²K enables Uw-values below 0.8 W/m²K in combination with VITRALIGHT. The Swisspacer Ultimate warm edge spacer bar used reduces heat loss at the glazing edge and prevents condensation – a key advantage, particularly in the wellness area.

Sustainability also played a central role: the aluminium profiles used consist of at least 75% recycled aluminium. In this way, the project combines transparent architecture with comfort, energy efficiency and responsible material use.

Swisspacer strengthens Lengwil as its center for research and development

With the new Technology Center in Lengwil, Swisspacer is bringing its validation and development capabilities closer together at its Swiss headquarters. The consolidation of R&D validation, quality control and production expertise creates a stronger foundation for faster decision-making, reliable testing processes and efficient product development.

The new Technology Center reflects Swisspacer’s commitment to innovation at the glazing edge. As requirements for insulating glass components continue to rise — from thermal performance and durability to sustainability and transparent product documentation — close collaboration between development, validation and quality is becoming increasingly important.

By relocating its R&D validation center from Herzogenrath, Germany, to Lengwil and expanding its local quality infrastructure, Swisspacer is strengthening Switzerland’s role as its central innovation hub. The Technology Center will support faster evaluation of new materials, prototypes and finished products, helping to accelerate the path from research to industrial implementation.

The expansion also supports Swisspacer’s broader innovation pipeline, including recent developments such as Swisspacer Ultimate | Nyxé. With enhanced testing and validation capabilities, the Technology Center lays the foundation for bringing new high-performance solutions to market even more efficiently.

DIALOG D-A-CH Event

When dialogue turns into direction

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our customers and partners to our headquarters in Lengwil for a one-day Dialog DACH gathering – an exclusive exchange bringing together experts from the glass and window industry across the DACH region.

In a focused and open setting, we discussed what truly matters for our industry today and tomorrow:

- Innovation driven by real customer needs
- Sustainability as a shared responsibility – from materials to processes
- New regulatory frameworks and their impact on glass and window construction
- Opportunities created by digitalisation, automation and collaboration

From insights into the new EU Construction Products Regulation, to hands-on innovation highlights, production insights and inspiring discussions on customer value – one thing was clear: progress happens when expertise meets openness and dialogue.

A big thank you to all our guests from industry and research for the valuable conversations, honest perspectives and inspiring impulses. You turned this day into what Dialog DACH is all about: connecting people, ideas and future pathways for our industry.

We look forward to continuing the conversation.

Press release: Elegant. Efficient. EMBLEM.

In the heart of Lille, the EMBLEM project stands out as a bold example of contemporary urban architecture. The mixed-use complex combines residential and office spaces in a striking design that brings together elegance, comfort and sustainable building performance. With its gently curved lines, generous glass surfaces and high-quality outdoor spaces, the building creates a strong architectural identity while connecting urban living and working with views of Parc Matisse and Lille’s old town.

The façade plays a central role in this concept. More than a visual design element, it contributes significantly to daylight comfort, thermal performance and energy efficiency. To meet the project’s demanding architectural and environmental requirements, high-performance solar control glazing from Saint-Gobain Glass was combined with Swisspacer Ultimate warm edge spacer bars.

The glazing solutions help create bright, comfortable interiors while reducing unwanted heat gain and supporting lower energy consumption. Swisspacer Ultimate further enhances the performance of the insulating glass units by reducing thermal bridging at the glass edge. This contributes to improved energy efficiency, greater indoor comfort and a reduced risk of condensation.

Thanks to the intelligent combination of Saint-Gobain Glass and Swisspacer solutions, EMBLEM achieves a strong balance between design ambition and sustainable performance. The project has been awarded BREEAM certification with an “Excellent” rating, underlining its high standards in terms of energy efficiency, comfort, durability and environmental responsibility.

EMBLEM shows how modern façade solutions can support ambitious architectural visions — creating buildings that are not only visually distinctive, but also efficient, comfortable and designed for the future.

Press release: Swisspacer strengthens its presence in Asia

Together with Saint-Gobain Glass India, the warm edge spacer manufacturer offers solutions from a single source

Since December 2025, Swisspacer warm edge spacer bars have also been produced in India. Together with Saint-Gobain Glass India, the Swiss manufacturer is strengthening its international presence and creating a regional base to supply the Indian market and other Asian countries directly from the region.

Local production offers clear benefits for both customers and the environment. Shorter transport routes improve delivery times and help reduce transport‑related emissions. At the same time, manufacturing in the region enables solutions that are specifically tailored to local climatic conditions and market‑specific window and façade systems.

The new site is the result of a coordinated project within the Saint‑Gobain network. Swisspacer contributes its long‑standing expertise in the development and production of warm edge spacer systems, while Saint‑Gobain Glass India provides in‑depth market knowledge and close relationships with local partners. Together, they create an integrated offering that supports energy‑efficient insulating glass solutions and underlines Swisspacer’s role as a globally active, market‑oriented specialist.

Press release: Schulhaus Lavater, Zuerich

The Lavater School complex in Zurich, originally built in 1896/97 by city architect Gustav Gull in the style of the Swiss National Museum, is a landmark of late‑19th‑century school architecture. As a protected heritage site, its recent refurbishment demonstrates how historic buildings can be sensitively modernised while preserving their original character.

A key focus of the renovation was the restoration of the original timber windows. Specialists in historic window refurbishment carefully upgraded the existing frames to meet today’s energy‑efficiency standards without altering their historic appearance. Modern insulating glass units equipped with Swisspacer Ultimate warm‑edge spacers were integrated into the glazing edge, significantly improving thermal performance while remaining visually discreet.

The upgraded glazing achieves a Ug value of around 1.4 W/m²K, a balanced solution that meets both conservation requirements and economic feasibility. In combination with Swisspacer Ultimate, the glazing edge reaches excellent Ψ‑values, reducing heat loss and lowering the risk of condensation—critical aspects for historic windows with limited tolerance for construction errors.

Beyond energy efficiency, the project also enhances year‑round comfort. Automatically controlled fabric awnings provide summer heat protection, while the improved glazing supports a more stable indoor climate. The renovation shows how even small components such as the spacer bar play a crucial role in delivering sustainable performance in heritage buildings.

Today, the Lavater School stands as a reference project for sustainable heritage refurbishment—proving that advanced technologies like Swisspacer warm‑edge spacers can successfully bridge the gap between monument preservation, energy efficiency and modern educational use.
